Cisco Networking Preparatory

Take the first steps to a career in network management by pursuing a CCNA certification. By pursuing your certification at PC Professor, you will broaden your vocational skill sets and your ability to manage and/or optimize network systems.  As most IT Directors will confirm, the CCNA certification is a stamp of approval for associate-level professionals interested in networking.

This preparatory class teaches the skills required to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small to medium size enterprise branch network.   Topics include connecting to a WAN; implementing network security; network types; network media; routing and switching fundamentals; the TCP/IP and OSI models; IP addressing; WAN technologies; operating and configuring IOS devices; extending switched networks with VLANs; determining IP routes; managing IP traffic with access lists; establishing point-to-point connections; and, among other possible topics, establishing Frame Relay connections.

The CCNA Preparatory Certification class trains students how to install and configure LANs and WANs for 5 to 500 users. Students receive practical, hands-on training at individual stations–each equipped with TWO Cisco routers and a Cisco switch. Taught by a Cisco Certified instructor, students will learn how to install, configure, and operate LANs, WANs, and dial access services for small, medium and large networks.

This preparatory course is vocational in nature and is designed for those seeking advancement in their existing job or for those seeking to pursue an IT career.   While not required, graduates of this program may consider taking the Cisco certification exams.

This intensive, hands-on class is for those with a thorough understanding of the concepts included in the MCITP class as well as the understanding of the concepts involved in PC Professor’s A+ Computer Repair class or its equivalent.

Cisco certification helps indicate an expertise in the area of network configuration. With the proper level of certification, a network professional can install, configure and troubleshoot routed and switched networks involving LAN, WAN, and dial access services while making sure the solution responds optimally to the business’ networking needs.
